LBD

Hidden with my skeletons
In the back of my closet
There’s a pretty little dress
That for me, really does it;
It kept the men guessin’,
Courtin’ and romancin’
But it’s been a long time
Since it’s seen the sun!

My cute LBD
Has been gathering dust,
Turned into an LGD
With fluffy gray rust.
It’s been too long
Since it’s been downtown,
Waiting for a man to come
And take me out,
And now just like my LBD,
I’m covered in dust bunnies
Thanks to COVID-19,
Cuz we’re all stuck
in quarantine.

Casino nights
And black tie events,
This LBD
Seemed heaven-sent,
With a lacy neckline
Paired with crimson lips,
The perfect amount of classy
With a hint of risk.

Oh what a shame,
That my cute LBD
Has been gathering dust,
Turned into an LGD
With fluffy grey rust.
It’s been too long
Since it’s seen the town,
No man’s come along
To take me out,
And now just like my LBD,
I miss dancing from dusk till dawn,
Thanks to COVID-19,
Cuz we’re all stuck
in quarantine.

My daddy’s probably happy
That his shotgun can lay dormant,
Thanks to quarantine
He can finally get some sleep,
Knowing that me
And my LBD
Can’t go strutting around
In our favorite speakeasy
With my girlfriends downtown!

It’s a crying shame,
That my cute LBD
Has been gathering dust,
Turned into an LGD
With fluffy grey rust.
It’s been too long
Since it’s been out on the town,
No man’s coming along
To take me out,
And now just like my LBD,
There’s no reason to get dressed up,
Thanks to COVID-19,
Cuz we’re all stuck
in Purgatory
(I mean quarantine).

DISCLAIMER – Obviously I know that this is a very “first world problem”, but I thought it might be a fun way to get everyone’s minds off of the dystopian situation we’ve found ourselves in. I’ll probably update this to be less topical and culturally specific whenever COVID-19 gets under control. If anyone tries to criticize what they may perceive as my “priorities”, please refer to this disclaimer first 😉 Stay safe everybody!
