As I sit here sipping on my ice-cold Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuchino (sadly, the Caramel Ribbon Crunch is out of season. Pardon my tears), I look about at the various patrons of this fine establishment. It appears that rainy weather is the perfect excuse to come to Starbucks and get a coffee.
What is it about rainy days that drive people to these beloved doors to drink from these sacred founts? Perhaps rainy weather incites a dismal melancholy within coffee drinkers to the effect that only the very best of coffee will placate that emptiness inside. Perhaps coffee tastes better in the midst of dreary weather. Perhaps I’m merely imagining an increased percentage of fellow coffee-drinkers. Who knows?
It certainly seems that way, however. Regardless, it’s a good day to drink coffee, made better by a 25% off coupon I received in my email. It’s a good day.
Any day is good in which coffee is sipped with holy reverence.
I, too, miss the Caramel Ribbon Crunch. And I think the appeal of Starbucks on a rainy day is pure sybaritic comfort… to enjoy something warm and sweet in a warm environment.
